At the core of the STEM Scouts flexible identity system is a logo designed with intrigue, education and delight in mind. The four aspects of STEM—science, technology, engineering and math, which appear in the x/y axis and the four quadrants—can live separately or combined. The logo can become an animated element in videos and appear on posters, postcards, flyers, apparel, banners and print ads and any number of marketing collateral —even on a NASCAR truck.
The style guide ensures that all pieces of communication are consistent in usage of both the logo and the color palette, which combine a retro feel and bright colors with high-tech concepts. That consistency of use is especially important now that the pilot program has expanded beyond the initial Great Smoky Mountains Council to 12 other Boy Scouts of America Councils across the nation.
We also developed an iconography system to convey the concepts behind the program’s benefits and backstory. Those icons are fun and friendly ways to catch the eye of students and communicate ideas.
