Unifying the Cooperative through bold visuals.

Appalachian Electric Cooperative came to Designsensory for a new logo to celebrate 75 years of service to its community—and to change perceptions of AEC to that of a more personable business model. The transition presents a recognizable shift from identification as a utility to a Cooperative of community members. 

The strong, iconic visuals that Designsensory chose for the AEC identity sustain the link to the cooperative’s key elements: electricity, community, technology and economic development.

We established a framework for visual representation and guidelines for the branding program for AEC, the community and its partner (A Touchstone Energy© Cooperative). An illustrated brand guidelines book details acceptable uses, sample applications, co-branding, photography and font styles. The book offers guidance for clear, consistent communications and connections with its stakeholders.

AEC’s new logo made its debut via a video scripted by Designsensory and shot by our media production company, PopFizz. The video speaks to the inspiration and preservation of the AEC culture and its future.
