From Bristol to the Mississippi River, Tennessee’s wealth of natural beauty, outdoor adventure, rich roots in music and entertainment, lush landscapes and culinary influence attract visitors from around the world. Tourism supports growth across other sectors and adds $16 billion dollars in revenue annually to boost Tennessee’s economy.
In the early 2000s, the Department, under then-Commissioner Susan Whitaker, looked to expand its online influence with creative ways to bring Tennessee’s story to the world. With goals of stimulating the growth of Tennessee Tourism, increasing revenues and promoting the state’s unique resources, TDTD began a ten-year partnership with Designsensory.
Our broad range of creative and technical expertise positioned Designsensory as the right team to communicate the strengths of our beautiful state and its tourism opportunities to travelers around the globe.
Our work for TDTD over the years included multiple campaigns across various platforms and innovative concepts in tourism marketing. We changed the way the state told its story by creating rich, immersive tools for travelers and vendors. During our long partnership, we learned—through research, travel and experience—how to identify the moments of truth that appeal to a wide variety of personas.
Most recently, we finished a complete, responsive redesign, allowing users to access the website and travel planning tools from any device; the creation of 16 trail apps to guide visitors to off-the-beaten-path regions and experiences; seasonal sites that showcase the ever-changing highlights of Tennessee; and the creation of a microsite for the 75th anniversary of Tennessee State Parks.
