With the upcoming launch of discovery+, HGTV wanted to expand its media channels to give its existing audiences another way to consume valuable and entertaining HGTV content. Discovery came to us, to create a podcast that would showcase discovery+ while giving fans the opportunity to build deeper connections with the brand’s top talent and gain valuable insights, tips and tricks in the home space.

Insight

To connect with today’s audiences and stay relevant, strong brands must continuously deliver compelling stories. For the platform to be successful among the loyal fanbase, episodes needed to maintain the iconic HGTV personality they’ve come to expect, while introducing more in-depth perspectives and relevant advice from their favorite talent.

Approach

We partnered with the HGTV digital team to develop the concept, create the brand, compose the script and produce the weekly podcast episodes. To connect with HGTV’s loyal demographic and give superfans more of the HGTV content they love, we interviewed HGTV network stars to recap television episodes and share behind-the-scenes content with listeners. The lighthearted episodes give fans an inside look into the home improvement and decorating space, with a DIY twist.

Top talent offers exclusive design tips and hot takes on emerging industry trends, creating an educational and interactive extension of the iconic HGTV brand. The personalized approach inspires listeners to try the hands-on projects for themselves to elevate their homes and gardens. We collaborated with HGTV producers to cast TikTok stars, Mike and Kat Stickler, aiming to attract additional audiences to the HGTV fan base. We named the show HGTV Obsessed, capturing the culture and interest this community of listeners shares with the brand. The wildly successful show offers a fun and accessible resource to transform your space into your happy place, and escape to someone else’s in the meantime.
