Once again, Designsensory was proud to work with the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and the 2014 Convention planners to promote the new documentary, “Medal of Honor: A History.”
The documentary tells the story of the Medal of Honor from its controversial beginning during the Civil War, through its rough and rowdy early days and, finally, to its current status as our nation’s highest—and most revered—military honor.
Designsensory created collateral materials, such as the DVD and its sleeve, to help promote and distribute the film.
An honor guard lined the red carpet as filmgoers arrived for the sold-out premiere on March 31 at Knoxville’s Regal Riviera. The crowd included many active duty military and two Medal of Honor recipients: Sgt. Sammy Davis, who earned his medal in Vietnam, and Cpl. Hershel “Woody” Williams, a World War II recipient.
“Having Sammy and Woody in town for the documentary premiere was an honor for the city of Knoxville,” said Joe Thompson, co-chairman of the Medal of Honor Convention. “They have such vibrant personalities and remarkable stories to share.” Knoxville will host the annual Medal of Honor Convention September 10-13.
The Knoxville Medal of Honor Convention created this legacy project to be shared with the Medal of Honor Society as well as the entire nation. Before the Knoxville premiere, 30 Medal of Honor recipients attended a private screening on March 24 at the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington, D.C.
Writer and producer Ed Hooper, who also worked with the Designsensory staff in creating the website mohknoxville.com, traced the medal’s history and the struggle to keep the honor unblemished. RIVR Media filmed and directed the documentary.
