Tennessee Wesleyan University wanted to convey faith, love, regionalism and academic integrity through their redesigned mark. To bridge the gap between traditional and progressive, we incorporated symbols that evoke the university’s core values in an easily recognizable mark that can be used across various digital and traditional marketing pieces.
The acorn and hackberry—physical and folkloric facets of the Tennessee Wesleyan story—stand for selflessness and love. The flame and arch represent the potential for intellectual and spiritual transformation. The shield, echoed in campus architecture, combines regional, spiritual and folk elements. The updated mark emphasizes the Tennessee Wesleyan transition from college to university, underscoring the personal nature of the TWU academic experience.
The university’s traditional colors are blue and yellow. These colors uphold the sense of academic and religious integrity, while two accents, metallic and gray, round out the palette and inject a modern tone into the image.
