His design work has earned recognition from the AIGA Tenn Show, the American Advertising Federation, and the American Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and has been featured in Print Magazine Regional Annuals, STEP, Dynamic Graphics and Logo Lounge publications. His interactive design work is often featured in online showcase lists found on Smashing Magazine, Web Designer's Wall and Most Inspired. Of particular merit is his signature work on Tennessee Vacation. Hailed as arguably the best state tourism website, the Tennessee Vacation (tnvacation.com) family of sites have consistently set the bar for inspired online work. Recently, his work on Discover TN Trails & Byways was awarded a Webby Honoree.

He frequently speaks at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and lectures on Visual Communication and Visual Rhetoric. Joseph is an active member of AIGA, the professional association for design, Art Directors Club, and the American Marketing Association.

Joseph believes in the power of innovative, entrepreneurial thinking and is passionate in applying design thinking, process and principles to social and economic problems. To that end, he works to harness smart, disruptive design in support of local and global philanthropic change.

Born in Knoxville, TN, he moved with his family to Silicon Valley, where he spent most of his early childhood and teenage life. Upon his return to Knoxville, he continued to develop his talents and interests in entrepreneurship, marketing, and design and started his first business when he was 15 years old. Joseph holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Tennessee and is self-instructed in visual design for screen and print.

He currently serves on the board of AIGA Knoxville as President.
